18TH CENTURY GEORGIAN STERLING SILVER BOUGIE BOX (WAX BOX) BY WILLIAM LESTOURGEON c1775An 18th century bougie box, "bougie" being the French name for "candle," with a center hole for wax taper coils that would be threaded through that hole and lit to make a candle. There is a dent in the lid, pictured above. The box is signed on the base, WL, and it weighs 2.0 troy ounces.
